Will I Get a Good Location?
Our Founder Morgan Morano has said many times, she will not allow a franchisee to sign a lease that she would not sign herself. We have developed and perfected our site criteria over the years. When we target a location, before we start lease negotiations, the location must meet or exceed all of our site criteria, which are very detailed.
What Are Your Royalties?
The Royalty is 5% of gross revenues.
Do you charge an Advertising Fee like most franchise companies?
No. We feel by saving our franchisees this additional cost/fee that typically does not benefit franchisees in their local market, it will allow our franchisees more financial resources to penetrate their local market. We believe the more successful our franchisees are, the more successful the Morano Gelato Brand will be.
Who are we looking for to join Morano Gelato?
We are seeking owner/operators who have a passion to produce pure and authentic Italian gelato, and are excited by the idea of bringing authentic Sicilian-style gelato, sorbet, granita, Italian espresso and Italian hot chocolate to their local community. We’re looking for those who are excited to offer their customers the most amazing gelato experience possible by transporting them back to an artisanal gelateria in a small city in Italy.
While we don’t require prior gelato making experience, we do actively seek people with an entrepreneurial spirit, who have managerial experience and a commitment and desire to consistently get out of their shop and get involved in their local community and aggressively market and promote their business. Our ideal franchisee is someone who wants to play an active role in managing their Morano Gelato franchise. It is critical to have an owner who is active in the business. This creates far more accountability to make the business successful and profitable over the long term.

We’re one of the few ice cream businesses in America that posts our flavors daily – this reinforces the freshness of each batch and allows customers to put in flavor requests, making them feel closer to our business. Further, we encourage sweepstakes on our social media pages, which helps to increase followers and brand/store awareness.
How long is the franchisee training program and where is it conducted?
Our franchisee training period is approximately 2 weeks at our store in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts and an additional 8 hours at the franchisee’s store prior to opening. We offer a comprehensive hands-on training program that will cover all aspects of running a Morano Gelato business.
How long does it take to open a Morano Gelato franchise?
We approximate that the entire process, upon signing the Franchise Disclosure Document, should take between 3 and 6 months.
